Greetings in Christ,

After a successful first meeting of brainstorming our itinerary, accommodations and flights, I want to share the details with those who couldn’t make it. I should mention, If you are a young adult from ages 18 to 35 and are interested in joining, please contact me ASAP.

Here are the details (Note: we are still in process of finalizing the trip):

We fly out Wednesday, January 24th  -   It is not necessary, but would be convenient, if we can book the same flight. The window of time we discussed for departure from Phoenix should be between noon and 5pm on Wednesday. Upon arrival, we would check in at our hotel, have dinner and then Fr Dan would celebrate Mass.

Thursday, January 25th  -  This will be a free day after breakfast and Mass. Some Ideas discussed: visiting the Mission of St Francis of Assisi. Praying the rosary at the Golden Gate Bridge. Deep sea fishing (guess who decided that?). Seeing Alcatraz or other tourist spots.

Friday, January 26th  -   Spend the day together as a group. Walk for Life Prayer Vigil with the Dominican Friars @ St. Dominic’s Church: Vespers, Mass and Holy Hour. Then the ‘All Night Eucharistic Adoration’ begins at Sts. Peter and Paul Church (optional).

Saturday, January 27th  -  Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 9:30am. Silent No More Awareness Campaign @ 10:45 to 12:15pm. Walk for Life 12:30pm to 1:30pm. BBQ and Holy Hour at Mary, Star of the Sea Church at 5:00pm. Catholic Underground Bay Area Concert and Franciscan Friars of the Renewal at 7pm in Berkeley.

Sunday, January 28th  -  Mass, Discuss our experience over Brunch, and then fly out from noon to 2pm.

Flights to San Francisco: We’ve seen flights from $130 to $210. Please have your flight purchased by our next meeting, which will be Sunday, Dec. 10th at 3:00pm (location on church campus  -  will be announced soon).

Accommodations: Still looking in to this, but we will be staying in a hotel. One idea discussed was being hosted by a church or Catholic school, but we decided not to pursue this.

Any suggestions that you may have, please let me know. Thank you. God bless you.

Totus Tuus,

John Caballero

Youth Minister

*Next meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 10th at 3:00pm (location on church campus  -  will be announced soon).

Update on the Walk for Life:

Fr Dan and I met this weekend and did some more research on accommodations and flights. This is the air travel that we decided work best …

American Airlines flight AA 686, Departing @ 6:10pm from Phoenix on Wednesday, January 24th. Our return flight will be American Airlines AA 1792, departing from San Francisco at 12:20pm on Sunday, January 28th. (Total price is $181)

The Hotel we decided to hold for now is the Metropolis, which is about a mile from the Walk for Life. We will discuss this more in detail at our next meeting which will be on Sunday, December 10th. Please purchase your flight as soon as possible, that way you can avoid an increase in price.

If you have any questions, please get in contact with me. God bless.

John Caballero

Reminder: Meeting today in the Church office at 3:00pm to discuss the trip.
